There are four main types of window films that can be used in South Carolina. Those are automotive window tinting, solar heat film, metalized window tinting and wood glazing tinting. Each of these has its own advantages and disadvantages. For instance, automotive tinting is the least expensive of all the four and should generally be the first choice for those who are looking to improve their vehicle’s appearance. Solar heat film and metalized window tinting are both available in rolls similar to window films and both provide excellent UV protection. Wood glazing tinting provides the most privacy and can be used on many types of windows, though the additional expense of adding this type of film can negate any savings from the lower cost of film.
Automotive window tinting can be applied with or without glazing and in either cases can be made in a variety of colors and patterns. It is important to keep in mind that if the film is applied to a fiberglass window it will not prevent UV light from passing through and as such can actually increase the intensity of UV rays hitting the automobile. Therefore it is necessary to make sure that you are installing an adequate amount of UV protection at the very least. In addition to being able to reduce the effects of UV rays, metalized window tinting can also block the view of the driver’s Seat Belt and/or Side Curtain.
