Things are crazy busy in the Manic Trout studio this month, its just amazing how much is going on!! I wanted to pop in for two minutes to share that I had a very exciting day yesterday when an interview I did with Tammy Powley for About.com came out! You may check it out . Thank you Tammy!!
Shoes + Manic Trout Pink = Awesome
I'll admit it, I not only owned a pair of combat boots in my teens but I wore them with dresses. Mind you, it was the early 90's and grunge was all the rage...so don't judge. I still have a soft spot for feminine dresses with bad ass boots...and lately I have been jonesing for a pair of cowboy boots to wear with my closet full of skirts. Eh, I figure if I'm going to be a Texan, I might as well embrace it and embrace it I will...the search starts tomorrow!

I got them and they are spectacular!!!! I love the heels the best...and the R. Crumb tissue paper is also pretty great. So I decided to look through a few old sketch books and found the exact same illustration from the shoes that I had doodled of Fritz my Sophomore year in college...and I'm pretty sure I was wearing Vans when I drew this...destiny, I tell ya.
Now I just have to wait for all of this dirty snow to melt so I can wear them!
I subscribe to a big stack of magazines...mostly fashion and culture, its part of the job and all (insert write off here) and have a bog old table full in the studio. Admittedly I am a bit behind on my reading this month and have been catching up this week and kicking myself for missing out on a few fnatastic things. I actual had a near panic attack a few minutes ago resulting in a mad dash for my computer and an immediate Sierra-style google search (I am the google master and am known for my blackberry googleing skills while out and about). By golly I did it though, and very shortly I will own one these (with free shipping!):
I have been wearing black Old Skool Vans FOREVER and have been wanting a pair of slip ons but couldn't figure out which ones I wanted...and then I saw them in the November ...what happens when you combine Robert Crumbs Fritz The Cat and Vans? Perfection...thats what happens. Did I mention that I used to doodle Fritz the Cat all the time in college? I even have the exact drawing from the shoes in a sketch book...this is so meant to be.
These are so f-ing Rad yo*. ok, its time to calm down now.
*if you know me well, you'll know what an incredible compliment that is.
