Magazines, blogs and twitters everywhere keep talking about bunny ears, mouse ears, cat ears...all sorts of ears on head bands are popping up in fashion...so why not chime in...my personal favs were spotted in the August, 2009 UK Vogue...those are some good looking ears...
Summer is pretty slow for online shopping...most people try to spend as much time as possible off the computer and outside (yes, even me!) so I always try to find a few cool new places to show Manic Trout's little pretties. My lovely Girl Friday, Thea found this fantastic site called a few weeks ago which "provides an online exhibition space for talented artists, designers, makers selling handmade goods, and independent boutiques." I signed right up and was accepted for the next exhibition (which begins today!) and am really excited to be a pert of the site.
Please go , Brittni & Jeff have done an amazing job curating and designing the site, there are so many beautiful things to look at and discover!
Something about this collection reminds my a great deal of my early years in cgr, it must be the colors...very computer generated aspect to the textiles...
Shanae Grimes, of Degrassi: The Next Generation and the new star of 90210's spin off series wore a few of Manic Trout's rings in a fashion shoot and was interviewed with them on MTV Canada!
Recently I have had a bunch of press for my eco friendly items, so I figured I would make it easier to find them and made a little guide of all of my eco friendly items. You can go check it out . Mind you, there are a bunch of pieces that use vintage chain and other elements of that nature that did not make the page, but I was trying to focus on items that have larger eco friendly elements.
Speaking of eco elements, have you encountered the organic baby spinach issue of random greens invading your spinach? I have had the worst taste in my mouth ever since my brunch of a breakfast burrito because it seems a dandelion leaf snuck its way past me...I don't do bitter...I have a hard core sweet tooth, I am chewing on a twizzler as I type this...btw, I have been dying for twizzelers since last Sunday and everyone has been out this week!!! I finally got them though, and they are not even able to get rid of this horrible bitter taste...ugh.
I feel that everything in life happens for a reason and I know that I was trying to plan for this day...but its still hard to really plan for when it happens three months earlier then I initially had decided. As of today, I am retired from Bar Managing and no longer bar tending at La Puerta Azul. I am looking for a place to bar tend part time now and I assure you I will let you all know where that new location is when I find it. Until then I will have a bit of time to catch up in my studio and prepare for Spring and Summer. It feels as though a huge weight has been lifted from my very stressed shoulders, and although its insanely scary being in limbo for a few weeks, at the same time it feels good to be able to take a bit of a break from the hell I was living in. Now on to the next chapter!
So Monday I was out running errands and I decided that it was time to buy a new scanner, as the last one I had which was very fancy, high tech and ginormous used scsi and therefore would not work with my computer. Well the main reason was so that I could scan in things from magazine...which is almost enough for me not to miss my camera, but not quite...anyway...the fruits of my labour is that my is up to date and actually shows the pages I have stuff on...crazy, I know. The exciting news is that the most recent piece to hit the newsstands includes not only a lovely necklace, but a quote...by me! The hot pink boxes direct you to Manic Trout...
In case you do not have bat vision..."Manic Trout jewelry designer Sierra Bailey says 'A dash of gold makes an outfit look sophisticated and glamorous, yet dramatic'"
So exciting! While I am congratulating myself I will also add that in the past two days Manic Trout has been mentioned in the fashion blogs , and ! I was extraordinarily honored to have these blogs notice Manic Trout. I also had to laugh that Fashion Binge said that Manic Trout sounds like a tedious jam band name...ahhh those days of Grateful Dead adoration are permanently stuck in my subconscious I suppose once a deadhead, always a deadhead.
So the other I was reading a magazine and they had one of those..."whats in your bag" things, and once again I was all jealous that I have not had a chance to do that. I was moments ago reading in which Ms. Spinach was giving a history of her blog and referenced to the same desire to have her bag contents shared...so she shared her own...and I thought...I can do that too! So we are now going to play the what is in my bag game...yay!
