The rest of the week was just as busy as part 1 with more baking, and a bit of time spent exploring Austin!

To deal with insane population growth, Austin keeps building the roads up higher and higher

Instagram_Feb1_2012_09

It's so easy to get cupcakes in this town that I had time to walk up to the Hey Cupcake trailor and score this beauty while Adam was at the bank

I realized this week that I am walking distance from both Hey Cupcake and Big Top Candy Shop.  Kinda scary as I ordered my wedding gown already and have to fit into that size.  No yummies unless I walk there!

The newest line in the Manic Trout collection will debut on May 1st and I am super excited about it!  The bulk of the line are necklaces that I personally have been living in for a couple of months now and I am quite smitten.

Summer2011Dots
I even for the first time in years packed only those necklaces for my trip to Austin a couple of weeks ago, and they took me from brunch to picnics to nights out on the town with ease.

Summer2011Pearls
The secret to the awesomeness of these necklaces is that they are available in 6 lengths ranging from choker to extra, extra long.  I personally have been wearing them in 3's and as I wear a lot of v necks, they fill in the neck area perfectly.

Summer2011Chips
The basic pattern of silver chain and gold rings are alternated with metal dots, gemstone chips and colored pearls.  They not only layer with themselves, but mix and match beautifully.  However, the strands look just as perfect on their own as they do with a group.

Summer2011Bust6
Perfect for summer, essential for packing and elegant enough to be versatile...I am thrilled to be introducing these new designs to Manic Trout!

SummerScarf1
The Early Summer line will be out on May 1st (pause to absorb this awesome info...) however, it has been designed for ages now and I have been working on some summer inspired pieces to debut a few weeks later when Summer has hit.  So here is the first sample...carved, lace like shells hanging from a vintage chiffon scarf.

SummerScarf2
I really wanted to modify the scarves for this line...make them a bit less polished for easier summer looks.  I used larger pieces of scarf and left the ends open, to highlights the colorful rolled edges.  Both ends of the scarf are tied, making the necklace adjustable to allow wearing at many lengths.

Any thoughts or comments on the design so far?

I have been such a quiet blogger this week...posting photo after photo...no time to type.  I have a great excuse though...I have been working my tushy off on the summer line!!  I am loving the designs and have been enthusiastically getting the samples made, but have reached a dilemma and I need to ask your advice.  I asked on facebook if gold or silver was preferred for jewelry this summer and learned that many of you prefer gold.  I agree that gold against sun kissed skin is lovely but I really like silver with a tan as well.  Luckily there will be a mix of both in the line...in fact, I use both together for one necklaces in particular that I'm really excited about!

The question I have is about these earrings...

SilverVSGold

I had designed them with silver and keep in mind here that they will be available in not only the aventurine shown, but rose quartz and serpentine jade too.  Also note, they are clip-ons as the stones are a tad heavy and I have a fear of stretched lobes.

Well, after the facebook question, I thought I would make them in gold and see what I thought.  Well...now I'm stumped, as I like them both.

So I turn to you and ask which you prefer...Gold or Silver?  Or do you want both?  I fear that may be overwhelming to shoppers though.

Would LOVE your thoughts please!!

CircleNecklaces

new necklaces in the works from Manic Trout!

Ah the life of a workaholic.  The holiday shopping season is barely behind me and I am full speed ahead towards Valentines day and spring already.  Sometimes the whole new year thing gets me all sorts of revved up and I have been tackling projects with Manic Trout, the restaurant and at home with great enthusiasm.  It could be that I had noticed a slump in my mood so I revved up my exercise level to generate more energy...I think its working.  I also have started to sleep well again after a 2 week bout with insomnia...which let me tell you, little sleep does not make me a happy camper!

Its not all work however, I have been doing a bang up job of balancing work and play and last night after the monthly Millbrook Arts Group board meeting, I had a wonderful time chatting away the hours with two friends of mine who are a poet and a philosopher.  We spent most of our time arguing about politics and books and it was simply blissful.  I'm all sorts of ready to conquer the day!!

Speaking of play...did I share this:
