Spring is having one if its pre flower, remind us that its only March days...its raining and freezing cold here right now. I figured I would ignore the actual weather and bring a touch of Spring to you via fashion instead!
Where did the sunshine go?
I dig R. Crumb…and Vans…and now for the cream filling…
I subscribe to a big stack of magazines...mostly fashion and culture, its part of the job and all (insert write off here) and have a bog old table full in the studio. Admittedly I am a bit behind on my reading this month and have been catching up this week and kicking myself for missing out on a few fnatastic things. I actual had a near panic attack a few minutes ago resulting in a mad dash for my computer and an immediate Sierra-style google search (I am the google master and am known for my blackberry googleing skills while out and about). By golly I did it though, and very shortly I will own one these (with free shipping!):
I have been wearing black Old Skool Vans FOREVER and have been wanting a pair of slip ons but couldn't figure out which ones I wanted...and then I saw them in the November ...what happens when you combine Robert Crumbs Fritz The Cat and Vans? Perfection...thats what happens. Did I mention that I used to doodle Fritz the Cat all the time in college? I even have the exact drawing from the shoes in a sketch book...this is so meant to be.
These are so f-ing Rad yo*. ok, its time to calm down now.
*if you know me well, you'll know what an incredible compliment that is.
In all the excitement of Halloween, I forgot to share that I had a ring in Life & Stye Magazine this week, Yay!

I mean come on...lounging with chickens, lying naked on fur and crawling through lady sized mouse holes...that's just a day in the life of Sierra!

It’s like magic for product photography…
Last Summer I went to the Time Out NY offices to be photographed and interviewed while making a Button Ring for their . It was fun to be interviewed in person, when so often its through email or on the phone these days, and I had a great time goofing around with Rachel and Roxana during the shoot. I also realized that you should NEVER walk around Manhattan all day in the summer months and then be photographed for a magazine without putting some effort into how you look...but thats for an entirely different post!
The point of this post is that I discovered a great secret for product photography that day, which I promptly forgot about until about 14 months later...but I did finally remember, ordered some last week and its AWESOME!!
The secret is...wait for it...White Plexiglass. Magic. I now use a light tent, fabric background, 4 lights, a tripod digital camera, manequin and now a piece of plexiglass...but the amount of time I have to spend in photoshop keeps growing smaller!
seriously...this is why I do not own a hairbrush.
I have so far failed on continuing to wear skirts into cold weather...this photo inspired me...tomorrow its on, I promise...tights are my new bff...this is especially hard as...
It snowed today. Its only October and I live in the Hudson Valley of New York. WTF? I celebrated by spending the evening prepping Venison stew and listening to conservative talk radio...it was the perfect way to spend a snowy twilight...
I later found it very difficult to work out while the yummy smells of stew wafted through the air. I'll admit that I just sneaked a bite...I am so planning on having stew for breakfast!

Changing Seasons…

Perfect Inspiration for Fall...
I'm starting to get get really excited about the Holiday season...the orders have been coming in more frequently...mainly due to some great press recently (thank you Meghan!), but also a sign that the weather is changing and people are spending more time inside and online then in the summer. Speaking of the changing weather, I have been enjoying the Fall around here myself, many meandering walks have been had recently...as the leaves are spectacular right now here in the Hudson Valley!

Its almost time to wear masks in public…
Well, that suggests that I wear masks in private...either way though, only 7 weeks until Halloween! I think I want to start buying fancy frocks and donning a mask with them...much more exciting then a traditional custom...and more fun to shop for!
