Getting ready for a show tonight...we don't set up until 5 so I course had put off getting everything together until this afternoon.  I also have put off taking a shower and getting ready until now...which of course meant that the maintenance men came by at 5 minutes before shower time to fix my tub faucet.  I had a silent,m internal panic attack and decided to blog while waiting and guess what...they're already done, yay!  I'm only 10 minutes behind schedule...so off I go!

p.s. if you're in the Austin area I will be at The Rattle Inn with the Austin Social Affair tonight from 7-10!

edited to add:  Photo by  Marcel Bednarz taken in Bonn, Germany where this awesomeness occurs for 3 weeks every spring.

I'm a bit sleep deprived today.  I had to get up super early and even with a tiny nap, I'm pretty out of it with only 4 hours sleep.  Is it better to power on through it sluggishly or take another nap?  If I didn't have so much to do before the show tomorrow night I would opt for a nap...but even sluggish work is getting stuff done right now.  I will however make a cup of tea.  That will help, tea makes everything better.

On a fun note, Adam and I had our first big planning meeting with the wedding planners today.  I may even be starting to get excited about he wedding.  I haven't really talked about it much here, but Adam and I decided that we wanted a teeny tiny, very dressy wedding.  It's fun planning a lavish event for 4o guests and much much less drama than if were having 150+ like it was starting to grow to when we began planning.

*sigh*, Now I must get back to work so I can at the very least go to bed a decent hour...

RedFallRoadI have no idea where this is, but I wish I did because I think it would be amazing to drive through it.  The Hudson Valley had spectacular autumns and vivid colors, but they were more of the traditional New England mix of reds, oranges and yellows...the intensity of all red almost doesn't look real!

ps..there is a huge sale at Manic Trout right now!

DecayedGreatHallI have a thing for decayed buildings and spaces.  They are romantic and beautiful in a twisted type of way.  Today it started out sunny and bright but turned rainy and gray as my day became busier and filled with things I needed to do and yet stress me out.   No matter how nice laundry and sweeping my apartment are once done and how gross it is when they are not, they never seem seem like a good use of my time.   So now as I sit at my desk, listening to the rain and preparing to work into the late hours of the night, I feel that beautiful decay is what is making me the most inspired.

On a less dismal note...yesterday ended up being such a lovely Sunday, all the plans I had were wonderful and I got to end the day doing two of my favorite things...making jewelry for the upcoming bridal line and writing the weekly blog post with Adam.  Maybe there's hope for my least favorite day yet!

As a kid, Sundays were the worst days.  Saturdays were jam packed with early morning cartoons, fun adventures and sleepovers and then cam Sunday.  Everybody had to go back to their own homes, and it was sleepy and quiet.  As an adult, I'm still not a fan.  In my years in the bar/restaurant world I preffered to work Sundays as at least it made go by faster.  As my work life is now focused online, it gets even more depressing as the crazy busy sites of the weekdays are a ghost town come Sunday.

I declared my distaste of Sundays to Adam a few months ago and made a promise to my self to try and make it better for myself.  Its been going pretty well!  In an ideal world I would hang out with girlfriends on Sundays and gab away the day, but rarely two of our schedules align.  However today is one of those wonderful Sundays where the sun is shining, I'm meeting a new friend for coffee and then off for family time and birthday celebrations with nieces and nephews.  Now that's a Sunday I can get on board with!

Vogue China, January 2012

Ah Tulle.  How I adore thee.  In any way, shape and form.  I even once designed a line of jewelry with you...although I realized I may be one of the few women over 20 who wishes to wear it in any form not bridal.  Eh, whatever,  I will forever sing your praises you feminine and sassy material!

BWRoadToNowhereIf you ever read here that I don't have much to do or anything going on, tell me to shut up and enjoy because wow do I love to pile on the busy.  No time to breathe these days...thankful that Adam travels so much right now as I don't stop working until about 2am most nights recently.  2012 is however, going to be a fantastic year!!

ps...this weeks post from She Says, He Says where Adam and write about the difference between the male and female perspectives is up!

BWJellyFishI have been designing up a storm this week!  I have also been devouring inspiration...want to see more than what I post here? Well, luckily, you can find oodles of images I have been collecting on my Pinterest boards.  I have locked myself in my studio for the weekend finishing the samples of the first collection for the Bridal Line (which should be available in late February...you can see sneak picks on Facebook)  Wish me luck!

I am deep in the design process right now.  If you've ever watched House and you know how he stops what he's doing because he has suddenly figured it all out...that's what I do when I"m in this process.  The designs build up and swirl about in my head as I start to problem solve about the look, logistics and materials and then BAM! I figure it out and have to write it down immediately.  I constantly sit straight up in bed at night, turn on the light and sketch or take notes in the notebook on my bedside table.  I do the same with the moleskin in my bag.  I have been a fiend for images both in magazine and online and I have materials spread out ALL OVER my studio right now.  It's all happening, a new collection is coming together.

The first necklace of The Bridal Line has officially been born which means I am now starting to process what direction to go in and what has been my greatest inspiration.  So far, light bulbs seem at the top of that list.  Yes, light bulbs.  From twinkle lights to huge globes and all that falls in between, I have become obsessed with light bulbs.  I pulled together a Pinterest board today to gather all of the light bulbs images I keep grabbing online and thought it would be fun to share my favorites...

DottedTrees
The kind of park that made me want to live in a big city.  Until I realized that not living in a big city meant more trees and grass in general.  An "a-ha" moment in my life.
