An idea came to me recently about featuring a few of the ladies I have known via forums and online business for so many years now here on the blog. I have met some amazing women out while growing Manic Trout, and I want to introduce you to them.  I have been lucky enough to see their businesses grow, evolve and be redefined over time.  We have advised each other, offered support and weighed in on important decisions as a group.  Most of these women I know via The Switchboards, a wonderful forum for connecting creative women in business.  I joined 5 years ago and it was one of the smartest decisions I've ever made.  But enough about all of that...lets get down to the first shop!

MissMalaproplogo
I first knew of Miss Malaprop as a very cool blog way back in 2006, as it was popular in the indie designer world.  The creator of the blog, Mallory,  lives in New Orleans and wrote about more then just cool finds, she included posts about both the local indie scene and her involvement in the community there.  Though what really set Miss Malaprop apart from the plethora of indie shopping blogs was that when she did write about designers and their products, the focus was on not only the handmade, but in sustainable living and fair trade practices.

In 2010, Mallory opened her shop, I actually remember seeing posts on the forum that it was in the works and getting really excited to see what she would come up with, and I was not disappointed!  Check out some of the goodies offered in Miss Malaprop right now...

Miss Malaprop Absinthe Soap
How fantastic is this soap???  I'm not a fan of actual Absinthe, but soap is different story all together!

Miss Malaprop Bag

This shoulder tote bag is handmade from recycled vinyl advertising and billboard banners, collected in Asia before being sent to the landfill.

Miss Malaprop Photo
Admittedly, I have a soft spot for Texas now and was instantly smitten about this photograph of the Davis Mountains, way out in West Texas.

Miss Malaprop Ring
I love this ring.  Basically a replica of one of my dogs growing up, Pippen.  I've always had a soft spot for Shinky Dink jewelry...and this designer does it really well!

The shop offers really reasonable shipping rates, is easy to navigate and search through, and in addition to the expected shop categories, you will find a sections for Recycled, Reusable, Organic and New Orleans Inspired!  From wallets to jewelry to soap to clocks to reusable shopping bags there is honestly something for everyone and all for the conscious consumer!

It has been inspiring watching Mallory evolve her passion to include not only the blog, but a shop to celebrate and showcase all of the wonderful designers she has come across in her years of writing about eco friendly products.  Thank you Mallory!
