I woke up Tuesday morning and almost choked on my coffee when I noticed that where my blog should have been was instead a message that the domain name was available for sale. WTF??? That''s when I realized that the auto payment on that account was still hooked up to my old Manic Trout card, which was sadly had been compromised/stolen/hacked/what have you and had been replaced with a new number. After immediately paying the renewal fee and refreshing every five minutes for an hour checking to see if it was back, I realized I should probably call GoDaddy and see what was up. Glad I did as they flicked a switch and poof! it was back. My blood pressure however took another two hours to calm down enough for me to focus on what I should have been doing all morning rather than dealing with a missing blog.
Mind you the whole mess happened because my to-do software had a new version come out that for the life of me I could not get to install and the prior version had expired and tech support was back up. So for 36 hours until I finally finished all of the trouble shooting myself, I had no idea what was due or what I should have been doing. There was a reminder in there that the domain name was exploring and yet I had no idea as I could not see my to do list on either my computer or my phone. Let's just say that I was not pleased with technology for the better half of the day yesterday.
Yesterday did however made me acknowledge how much I love technology and will never be one of those people who shun advances, rather I embrace them with open arms. My life as a designer, and as a small business owner relies on it. From auto reminders on to-do lists to being able to share my inspiration through the blog to...well, heck...my entire store is online! As much as it drives my crazy when it fails, my life and business are infinitely more awesome because of it. Now if only I could have those 3 hours back from yesterday....
