…and I forgot to bring my camera…oops! In this modern word of blogs and technology, you start you feel that if you don’t have proof then it didn’t happen…kind of sad. I trekked up Stissing Mountain and then up the watch tower (which was so very Dazed and Confused) and had the most amazing view of mountains, hills, lakes and valleys…all in the early stages of fall…so unbelievably breathtaking. As I totally dropped the ball on sharing the visual, I will share this photo, which I have loved for a year or so and have been waiting for the perfect time to share it…

On my way to Stissing Mountain, I drove past a spot that could easily have been the location for this photo, and I instantly realized I found the perfect time to share!

October is National Breast Cancer month and in reading about the upcoming fundraisers and awareness, I have decided that I wanted to donate the proceeds of my pinkest ring, the Calypso Button ring to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I stumbled upon Nancy G. Brinker’s story of why she created this organization in her sisters memory made me not only burst into tears, but made me deeply respect the work she has done and what she has accomplished. It’s amazing what can be done with focus and determination.

I am the oldest of four girls and we are quite the tight knit group, all four of us are loud and energetic and when we’re all together, we are a fantastic crew…the most recent photo of all of us together in August exemplifies my point…

Thea (16), Gillian (25), Holly (23) & Sierra (32).

I take my job as big sister very seriously and have been known to jump in the car and drive 2 hours immediately upon receiving a call from a distressed sib needing to be comforted. I log ALOT of hours on the phone and have dealt with more drama then you can imagine with these girls…so when I received this message yesterday, it made my day…

I am a special ed teacher in the ‘hood

So i come in every day and deal with a bunch of kids who have no one else to keep them in line, they are assholes, but they make me laugh. Another new teacher asked me how I stay so calm about it all. It was funny because that morning I was thinking about how I treat all my kids like they are my little sister or brother, it made me appreciate how your such a great big sister to all of us assholes. Love you.

Ever have one of those projects that you keep putting off as you know it will require so much from you that you don’t want to deal with it? Well the Venus in Furs Necklaces are that way for me, but I did it…I completed a big pile of new necklaces…the last of the current patterns and three new ones, woo hoo! The whole stack will be available this week (sign up for the newsletter to be the first in the know!)

Made from vintage silk scarves that are no longer suitable for wearing, the Venus in Fur Necklaces are perfect for ladies who love silk scarves, but can’t quite seem to pull them off!

Well, that suggests that I wear masks in private…either way though, only 7 weeks until Halloween! I think I want to start buying fancy frocks and donning a mask with them…much more exciting then a traditional custom…and more fun to shop for!

Did you know there are two different magazines, Parents and Parenting? I had no idea either…but I do now as my Joliane Like A Feather Earrings are in the October 09 issue of Parenting and not Parents…yee haw!

I love fall…especially the clothes…which is odd as I had a love for fuchsia and girly skirts which are both best in summer and spring…but fall has cashmere, fur and my ultimate obsession…jackets! I can feel it in the air, the leaves are starting to turn and there’s a feeling that everyone is getting down to work right now…love it
